The HALLOA project (Hybrid Amplifier Laser for Lidar OperAtions) has officially launched in January 2025 under Horizon Europe, with the mission to advance European space technologies for greenhouse gas monitoring.
Led by ONERA and supported by a strong European consortium, HALLOA is set to develop a cutting-edge laser system for spaceborne LIDAR, targeting TRL6. This innovation will enhance CO2, H2O, and wind speed monitoring from space, paving the way for a future EU-led space mission.
By combining fiber-based and free-space laser technologies, HALLOA will strengthen European independence in critical components, including 2.05 μm pulsed fiber amplifiers and high-power laser diodes.
A major step for climate monitoring and space technology in Europe!
